Custom alumni profile fields allow you to capture unique data about your alumni, such as house affiliations, sports achievements, memberships, and more.
Step 1: Accessing the Additional Fields Section
Log in as an Admin on your Alumnly site.
Navigate to Directory > Additional Fields.
This is where you can create, manage, and organize custom profile fields for your alumni.
Step 2: Adding a New Custom Field
Click “Add New Field”.
Enter a name for the field (such as, “Sports Team” or “House”).
Choose a field type:
Single Select – Alumni can choose one option from a dropdown list.
Multiple Select – Alumni can choose multiple options.
Text – Alumni can enter custom text.
Date – Alumni can enter a specific date.
Configure additional settings:
Enable for Directory Search – Allows users to filter alumni by this field in the directory.
Enable – Makes the field visible to alumni.
Mandatory – Requires alumni to complete this field in their profile.
Click “Save” to create the field.
If you selected Single Select or Multiple Select, you’ll now need to add options for alumni to choose from.
Step 3: Adding Field Options (For Select Fields Only)
Click “Add Option” to enter selectable values.
Add up to 50 custom field values for your alumni to choose from.
Once done, click “Update” to save your selections.
That’s it! Your new custom field is now added to the alumni profiles.
Step 4: Managing and Organising Custom Fields
To rearrange the fields, simply drag and drop them into the preferred order.
Here, you can also:
enable/disable fields
control directory search visibility
toggle the mandatory option to have alumni complete these fields upon login
toggle the direct registration add-on to have user complete these fields during directly registering on your alumni site.
To edit or delete a field:
Click “Edit” to modify its settings.
Click “Delete” to remove a field (Note: You can only delete a field if it has no associated data).
